How We Choose Deals
Every deal on Home Deals Digest is checked by a person before it is published. This page explains exactly what that means.
1. Sourcing
Editors monitor retailer promotions, manufacturer rebate programmes and seasonal sale cycles across the categories we cover. A promotion only becomes a candidate if the product is one we would recommend at full price.
2. Price verification
Before publishing, an editor opens the merchant listing and records the price actually shown, not the price quoted in a press release. That figure and the date it was recorded appear on every deal card.
3. Discount sanity check
We compare the sale price against what the item has sold for over recent months. Permanent 'was' prices and inflated list prices are common in home improvement; if the discount is not real, we do not publish it.
4. Practical caveats
Materials pricing rarely tells the whole story. Where installation, substructure, fasteners, delivery or waste factor meaningfully change the total, we say so in the deal description.
5. Expiry and cleanup
Deals with a known end date are marked expired automatically once that date passes, and stay visible briefly so readers can see what a category normally discounts to. Stale listings are removed.
